The warm, rich tones of Britton Timbers Spotted Gum now grace the stunning rooftop terrace of one of Melbourne's most prestigious apartment developments.

Fifty Albert in South Melbourne is a state-of-the-art multi-unit residential complex by the Hickory Group that is creating a real buzz around Melbourne.

Britton Timbers’ Nick Fitrolakis supplied the spotted gum to GSG Inspired Building for the rooftop project.

"The developers and architects particularly wanted the hardness and complex colouring of spotted gum to bring out the light and shade inherent in the rooftop communal entertainment area. The 86 x 19mm decking and 265 x 65mm beams were just lightly oiled to enhance the natural qualities of the wood."

American White Oak and engineered French Oak in wide boards were chosen for framing and flooring around the bar and wine tasting area. Stained to a rich chocolate, the timber has drawn rave reviews from albert patrons. In the restaurant section of the winery, part of the haste for Paul was in solving a last-minute sliding door challenge – in time for the arrival of riders completing the Bike Tour of Victoria.

The landscaped rooftop terrace at Fifty Albert features its own cinema, outdoor dining facility, sun-deck and barbecues. Elsewhere in the complex there is a fully-equipped residents-only health club and day spa, ground-floor café, business centre and lounge.

Britton Timbers carries stocks of Spotted Gum (also known as Lemon-Scented Gum) at its distribution centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Overseas orders are fulfilled by Britton Timbers International.
